R4-Three Primary Research
One
of the primary research methods is through surveys. This would be to gain an
idea of what people are mostly interested in and what type of horror films
appeal to them. Questions such as what sort of settings they prefer and what
specific elements are used in a horror movie that scares them the most. From this sort of information we can work on
our short film and add elements to it that people suggested or mentioned in the
survey. It would be a contribution when we are planning and making the script because
we can take their ideas and add these bits to our film. The technologies that
would be used to do this is mobile phones, androids, computers, laptops etc.,
this is because people can access the survey through a simple link. I will be
sending the link to people via emails or on social networking sites and then I
will analyse the data and see which answers were the most common.
Another
primary research that i will be carrying out is a vox pop. I will be using this
to find out what people look for in trailers or posters and what type of
advertising appeals to them more. For example people may be more interested in
online advertising or bus stop advertisement. The technology that I will be
using is a microphone to record people’s responses. Then I will listen through
the responses and decide which answers are the most common. The question I ask
will be “what do you look for in adverts that attract you to watch a certain
film”. the research will, help me to find out what certain aspects of a horror
film is the most liked and applies to the main stream audience. The technologies
I will use to carry this out is a microphone which I will be borrowing from my
teacher.
Lastly
I will be doing some online research and I will try contacting a short films
advisor via email or through the phone and try to get them to give me tips and
advice so I can take it on board when my group and I are making our short film.
the technologies i will be using is the phone or the computer to email. I also
have access to my emails through my smart phone so I can use this method also. Using tips from people who work with short films would be a great way to have a better idea of what is expected and some key points that may be needed to be looked at.
From this i have learnt that i need a lot of my own primary research as well as secondary research as it will all benefit me and give me answers that I'm looking for.

Sound:
· Non diegetic: Signalling for something bad to happen, sound track music creates suspense and almost recognition to certain scene. Also creates more realism into the movie as not everything in real life you see has a sound.
